Carlsbad, California. November 2016. MachineTek, a leading fabricator of precision honeycomb core components for the aerospace industry, recently announced the addition of 6,000 square feet of climate controlled production space. This brings the total production area to 15,000 sq. ft. at MachineTek corporate headquarters
We’ve been growing for the past 24 years, but increased demand from SpaceX and other customers necessitated this recent expansion, said Kevin Darroch, President of MachineTek. We are now well-positioned to continue meeting our customers’ requirements with precision honeycomb fabrication and on-time delivery.
Eight new production technicians are now housed in this added space operating two shifts daily. Also, the company added a 5 axis CNC router with 5’x10’x4′ machining envelope. This new CNC machine not only increases machining capacity, it also offers higher accuracy and greater horsepower and rigidity for honeycomb profiling, foam core contouring, and composite panel trimming.
Established in 1992, MachineTek is a value-added manufacturer in the aerospace composites industry specializing in precision fabrication of metallic and fibrous structural honeycomb core materials as well as machining high density foam, carbon fiber components and bonded panels.
The company’s production capabilities include large-envelope five-axis CNC machining, heat forming, potting, bonding, and core splicing to customer requirements and aerospace specifications. Its engineers and technicians have extensive experience in honeycomb core fabrication, and MachineTek is known for outstanding customer service.
MachineTek’s quality management system is certified to ISO 9001:2015 AS9100:2016 (Rev D).
